Hello y'all! Have come on here in middle of watching Glasto on tv-am having a rare night on my own-kids/dad in Camberwell with MIL as Ive been at work until 10pm and start a 10 am tommorrow so I get a good nights kip,a bottle of wine to myself and get to watch what I want on tele! Magik!
Anyway, main reason for posting is to say to mummyllegs-"lets ditch the posh lot of Greenwich and arrange a meet of our own-sod it-life's too short to be spending weeks arranging meets that everyone can make-whatdya say???"
(not instead of but as well as the Greenwich mob,eh?)-we live too close in this great mumsnet world not to make the effort-I'm happy to board a train to Waterloo if you fancy it-or we can meet in the middle-my oldest boy quite likes Hayes Galleria as gets to see the big ship-whatever its called-and loves going on trains up to London.
I await your reply with baited!!

Anyone know how whymummy is????

evansmummy · 26/06/2005 11:41

Thanks, your all so kind. Don't feel that I deserve any support though at the moment, cos I've lost my topping smoking impetus (sp?).

I've had addictions to things in the past, but this beats the lot. Never had so much trouble quitting the other things, this is just horrible. Makes me feel so weak and useless.

Hopefully in a few days I'll be ready again. At the moment, the idea of not smoking fills me with dread.

charliecat · 26/06/2005 12:47

EM i know just how you feel, been there done that. I am a vegetarian and I have been since I was 9 and it dawned on me that I havent ate meat for over 15 years and although at times, like once a year maybe, my mouth has drooled at the thought of a kebab, that I have easily got on with my life without meat, without mental torment and without the pain that this fag thing was giving me.
This is why fags are so bloody awful. And now your feeling low because you feel they are winning. Go away smoke for a few days and come back when you feel ready, dont leave it too long though! And for your next quit remember how low that one fag made you feel or reread you posts.
and whyquit.com, do some reading there. xxxxxx
Did you enjoy your evening dropinthe?
No idea where whymummy or mink is

Goodness me MLL, that awful, 40s way too young
Its a relief being a bit far away from smoking and realising you dont have that shit im killing myself cloud over your head isnt it?
And OMG the things i used to cough up, big greeny brown flemmy cancer ridden gobs...I dont even cough now.
Scary how stupid one can be.

charliecat · 27/06/2005 10:17

Put it on the selling bit for a donation to charity if noone here wants it, very kind of you!

fionagib · 27/06/2005 12:30

Hi girls
Am in 'thanks god am quitting' mode too, feeling fine, the big 2mg lozzie does the trick in the evenings. So, no slip ups. Feeling proud. We go to france on thur and am pretty confident that i won't balls it up & snatch dh's packet (!), even after many glasses of wine...

Hope you feel better soon, EM... am sure you'll reach a point when it feels 'right' to smoke your last ciggie. Can't remember if you were using subsititues or not, like lozenges, gum whatever - I couldn't cope without something, just can't cold-turkey.

charliecat · 27/06/2005 12:31

Fiona, to keep you off the fags in france think back to LAST YEAR and remeber that NEXT year you will proudly be able to say that this was the holiday where you conquered it.

thanks mll and cc (cc, can't believe it's a year since we started chatting on this thread!! or at least its forerunners...)

mll and anyone else who's interested, over a year ago minkmama kindly blended some yummy aromatherapy oils for me and cc, to help combat our manic cravings. They really helped. Just having a good strong snort of the bottle (! just the aroma that is, we didn't snort the OIL... or at least I didn't...) did lessen the awful itch. Might be worth getting hold of aromatherapy oil - I also bought some black pepper aromatherapy oil, which is meant to be good for overcoming addiction.

fionagib · 27/06/2005 20:39

ps I wish my dh would quit, he's 47 and smokes at least 20 a day

Hi guys, glad to see you're keeping this thread going, it really is a great help.
Got a question from a friend and as I know some of you use/d lozenges maybe you can help. She wants to know if you can use them while b/fing. Her baby is actually a toddler and only feeds once, maybe twice a day so we're not talking a tiny baby who's feeding a lot. Anyone know? TIA

charliecat · 27/06/2005 21:47

No idea Posey, think it says not to on the packet, BUT you have to weight up smoking or lozenge IMO. How you doing Posey?
Ask her doc?
Hello kama Well Done! How you doing?( sorry though theres a few of us sometimes we are not here right away)
Feels longer Fiona...is your book in the shops yet?

dropinthe · 28/06/2005 08:57

I still breastfeed and use lozenges-my ds is 1 and a half and only feeds a few times a day for comfort-I probably have about 7 lozenges a day-about the same as I smoked per day-of course its better than smoking-4000 less chemicals and my Dr said it was ok too.
Mummlonglegs-glad you've agreed to a meet-I can do Tuesdays and Thursdays but will have both boys with me,(oldest 3 and a half and is really good-youngest will be fine too-they only misbehave when they are bored at home-if they out doing new things then they are great!)
I also go on holiday in two weeks time so if you fancy it lets do it next week on one of those two days-(sorry can't make weekends as work both days)-think of some places we can meet too-I'm happy to come up to Waterloo or you might prefer somewhere new!

dropinthe · 28/06/2005 08:59

Well done Kama too!

Thanks for that. will tell her later so she can get started.

Charliecat - my attempt has been generally successful, a few wobbles along the way but feel like I may have actually cracked it now.

And fairyfly1-I wonder how her new ds is?
Yes,next Thursday will be fine-very flexible re time as they are too old for routines now! Lets play it by ear where we shall meet nearer the time depending on what the ole weather is up to but any suggestions would be great-we can do Greenwich if you don't mind doing it twice in a month or we could meet at Hayes Galleria at London Bridge,do lunch and have a stroll along the river and show the kids HMS Belfast and Tower Bridge-all weather permitting!
