Knee problem

I have found that when I kneel my right knee hurts and I cannot kneel properly. Now this morning my knee is sore and and hurts when I go up and down the stairs so really what I am saying is that when I bend it or put pressure on it - it hurts.

It's the inside part of my right knee. I have booked into see a doctor - but couldn't get an appointment until next Wednesday.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

I've just been to the minor injuries clinic with a similar problem. Again, inside/back of the knee. They said I had probably pulled a hamstring. The other option is cartilege, they said.
