I don't know if this is the right place to post this but here goes...

this is the second day where i am sat at my desk in work and feel really tense in my chest and like my pulse is racing. just checked my pulse and it's around 88 beats per minute (if i did it right).

i don't know why i feel like this. nobody is in the office today, just me, it's unusually quiet and I am in a very good mood.

i've tried a cup of tea, listening to my ipod, slow breathing, bachs flower remedy, and i don't feel anymore relaxed and i don't understand it.

i went to the gym at lunch yesterday and was better in the afternoon but can't do that today cos I haven't got my kit.

any suggestions as to what this might be? or how i can get rid of it?

i'm seeing gp later for something else but not sure whether to mention it.

Do you have pain in your chest, any breathlessness at all?

AuntieMaggie · 07/08/2009 12:28

nope just the tenseness

It sounds like it could possibly be anxiety but I would mention it to the dr just to be on the safe side. Can you think of anything that could have triggered any anxiety?

TreeTrunkThighs · 07/08/2009 12:37

I might be stating the obvious here but is there anything that might be hanging over you, even something you might have forgotten about.

I quite often find myself thinking that I feel tense but have to rack my brain to remember what I was worrying about - that makes it sound like it might be something trivial - not at all. I am currently feeling a bit tense about a whole load of things. Mostly they sit in the background and I don't really feel them - every now and then one pops up.

Does that make any sense?

AuntieMaggie · 07/08/2009 12:39

No and I have suffered with it in the past - that's how it feels but only in my chest, if that makes sense? My head is clear and I'm in a good mood which is unusual for when I'm anxious. Unless my chest knows something I don't!

I should be relaxed but don't know why I'm not.

I'm also on citalopram, and have been for a while, which is another reason I'm surprised.

My head can feel ok when I'm anxious, I get a lot of tenseness/heaviness in my chest.

Could it be muscular?

AuntieMaggie · 07/08/2009 12:44

Yes TTT that makes sense but I can't think of anything.

maybe muscular but not obviously so, if that makes sense? it doesn't feel like that.

Yes makes sense.

Do you know what your pulse is normally?

Could you go for a walk during your lunch?

AuntieMaggie · 07/08/2009 14:41

Haven't got a clue what my pulse is normally.

Just been for a walk and feel better - thank you
