Anyone else get ache under left shoulder blade area about a week before period due and stays until period arrives?

Title says it all!

Last period 11-15th

Due around the 8/9th and already the ache is there, it's not bad enough to take pain killers but I am aware of it iukwim.

It's there every month, about a week before period is due, sometimes longer, and it stays until period arrives, sometimes stays throughout period then dissapears until next month.

Anyone else? What is it?

No idea. Did you get your fanjo problem sorted? (was you wasn't it?)

What sort of pain is it? Stabbing/burning etc? Does it go if you lie down? Is it more on your back or front?

It's just achy, not stabbing, burning like. Doesn't go if I lie down, on my back, nothing on front.

I guess it kinda feels like someone is pushing/prodding that one area really hard iukwim?!

You get the pain every month?
I got shoulder/period pain when experiencing an ectopic pregnancy.

It could be one of those weird body quirks; before my period I get a crampy/clicky right toe! Always have.

Yep every month, absolutely no chance of being pregnant this month.

Last month I thought I was, but period arrived 6 days early - v odd.

You need to get your GP to check your fanjo anyway so mention it. It doesn't sound like anything to worry about though but it's best to check with a lovely GP.

Abdominal pain can be referred into the shoulders - for example, appendicitis can cause pain in the shoulder blades. I'm not suggesting you have appendicitis, just that inflammation in the abdomen can cause referred pain in the shoulders.

So, pain from your uterus being referred into your shoulders perhaps?

Oh god, it's to do with where the nerves from different organs of your body meet the spinal cord - I'm no expert! I think that the abdo nerves meet the spinal cord close to the nerves from the shoulder, so the messages can be confused and you feel the pain in your shoulder rather than the location of the inflammation.

Actually, googling a little (always dangerous!) there is the suggestion that endometriosis can cause shoulder pain, which would make sense with your pain being linked to your cycle - would this be a possible reason for you?

i have endo and get referred shoulder pain. also got it after having both babies...

so if I get pain in my abdomen, then It could be shoulder pain? Does it work like that?

I don’t believe there is a thing like weird body quirks.Your body is giving you a message listen to it no matter how seemingly harmless it’s a symptom of something..

Mine is in my right shoulder which gets painfully unbearable before and during my period.Ask your GP to refer you to a consultant for endometriosis and if it turns out you don’t have it at least that’s out of the way.
I did and turns out i had a severe stage 4.

Hey! Anyone have any diagnosis for this? I have similar in left shoulder only and no endo signs even had that checked at docs.. I also only started having this since having a miscarriage 6months ago.

I have the same exact problem, I'm actually feeling the pain (burning pain) on my left shoulder right now because my period is due in a few days. The pain also disappears during or after my period.I have done X-rays nothing was found. One of the doctors told me that it's psychological, the pain is not there it's just in my brain (which is not true). I have given up.

Just came across this while googling shoulder pain during period.

My period has come super early this month, and alongside it such a sore pain in my shoulder. It's like an ache more than anything, but my arm just feels so heavy because of it!

I've no cramps or anything. Just wondering now if I do actually have inflammation somewhere and that's causing the shoulder pain. As I said my period has come on on cycle day 20, so quite abnormal for me in itself. Usually I'd have long cycle of approx 35 days or so. So feel something is up, but only now thinking the shoulder pain could be connected!

I have this too and the odd stabbing pain in my breast on the same side what feels like the back of the nipple
