Avoid party and enjoy your holiday! the birthday boy probably won't much enjoy his party anyway, but give him his present, that may help

Definitely avoid - if he's a really close friend, why not have him round when he's well, and celebrate his birthday at your house, after the holiday?

I would have said avoid too but thank the mum for letting you know.

What did you do?

blackrock · 30/07/2009 20:51

We avoided. thanks for your comments, as made me feel reasonable. We will deliver a pressie after 48hrs. Had a chat with his mum, who understood (she is lovely).

Took DS out this afternoon, as he was disappointed, and told him about the illness (just didn't mention the party was going on without him)!

If not going on holiday I would have gone, I think, but the holiday plans would sway it for me.
