itchy scalp - but not nits

I've been absolutely persecuted for the past weeks with an itchy scalp. despite good rooting about by my DH and my mum, no sign of nits. the pharmacist recommended taking antihistamine so I'm on noratidine, but not sure if this is making much difference.

any thoughts about what it might be? DH now complaining of it (although he might just be feeling itchy watching me scratch!)

Pop to the GP, it could be a fungal or a bacterial infection.

Psoriasis?

Not rinsing shampoo properly?

Reaction to something new?
