How long is swine flu contagious for?

My friend has a double whammy of swine flu AND shingles, has recently been left by long term partner, and has no family - so she's feeling really really awful. I'm going to London on Wednesday for a private view and had intended to go and stay overnight with her and my 7 year old dd.

Will she be contagious by next week? She only got prescription for tamiflu today - and not sure if she's even going to cash it in as she says there's no one to pick it up for her.

I have a 4 year old dd who has had repeated pneumonia over the past year - 5 times, and so I really want to avoid her getting it, but also know that friend desperate for me to come and be with her.

WWYD?

Sounds risky to me.

I have been told the following:

  • 48hrs or until symptoms subside
  • You will know 4 days after contact if you have contract it
  • 5 days before - 10 days after
  • 7 days

If anyone actually knows I would be interested to know too!
