Ok, I should start by saying that I am swinging between calm and worry on this one. Put it down to the pregnancy hormones.
I had a conversation with my midwife and on the positive side she reinforced the fact that the majority of healthy people who catch swine flu including those who are pregnant will be ok.
She then went on to say that what I do and don't do on a day to day basis has to be based on my own assessment of risk. I had theatre tickets booked in London and she suggested that if I did go I could wear a mask... She seems to be holding the line that avoiding crowded places (if you can) is the best policy. I've decided that I won't go to the theatre.
However, where do you draw the line? I am a SAHM but if I was still working I would be commuting by crowded train each day and eating in a packed staff restaurant.
I've planned to go to a meal with 15 old work colleagues tomorrow, which involves a train journey. Is going to a restaurant too much of a crowded place? Would you avoid something like this if you didn't have to go?
(The day after that I'm going to a wedding with a 100+ guests.)
Any views on this would be appreciated.
