Any pregnant ladies on here who have survived swine flu?

Hi, I'm 35 weeks pregnant with a two year old son.

The news is making me fairly anxious, with regards to myself and my son.

So I just wondered if there are any pregnant ladies out there who have had swine flu and what their experience was? Or any parents out there, whose young kids had had it and what their experience was? Really just to get some perspective/reassurance.

No, no plans to get the vaccine here pootle. Would prefer to catch naturally so I can pass on antibodies through my milk...although as I said I reckon I've had it already ! No plans to get DC's vacced either

They don't let you have the normal annual flu vaccine if pg do they? So how can they say this new one (presumably also cultured in raw eggs) is safe for pg ladies???

I got a rotten flu this year at roughly the same stage as you are at now. DS and I both got it. It was rubbish. High temp for about three days. Coincided with end of morning sickness, so when I came out the other end of it I was convinced I had lost the baby. I hadn't, we were all perfectly fine.

Last time I was pregnant, I was working in a busy open plan office, travelling on public transport all through the winter time. People dropping like flies all around me. But I didn't get the slightest sniffle.

This time round, DS social life has been the weak link. Every time we go to playgroup, we come back with some kind of lurgy that lays us all low for a week or so. Then we go back for some more.

So we are avoiding other kids for a month or so. Not difficult as everyone is on holiday and the playgroup is shut for the summer.

Pootle, no, not counting on the vaccine.

Firstly according to the news (they do love to stir it) because the countries that are producing it might need it for themselves.

And secondly because they have done a rush job on this one, the companies that are producing the vaccine are agreeing non-liability clauses with buyers in case anything goes wrong. Hardly reassuring.

Nope, it's good food and handwashing for us.

I hope all of you that have the flu or are still recovering from it are doing alright.

I do feel better knowing that although it's clearly no walk in the park you are all still there.
