In what ways is MAN FLU worse than Swine Flu?

NB to anyone considering saying 'Actually, no-one's ever died of Man Flu': this is a light-hearted thread! Okay?

As you were.

Quimoved, Quattro and MadameH- i think i need a lie down. Headache.

Quimoved - ABetaDad is a toy boy. I work hard(ish) for my living but I am open to alternative suggestions. But I do look up to ABetaDad

Fimbo · 14/07/2009 22:51

I saw a card in Paperchase on Sunday it said "Sorry You Have Manflu". I did chuckle

Fimbo · 14/07/2009 22:52

Here it is!

quimotivemonchocolat · 14/07/2009 22:58

Aha so you are not fluffdaddy then?

Perhaps you are confused, this can happen with manflu.

But let's check you aren't getting any worse shall we?

If you answer yes to any of the following things are definitely going downhill and you need to seek urgent alcohol advice quickly:

(1) Do you find yourself earning on average 30% less for doing the same job?
(2) Do people address your chest instead of your face when speaking
(3) If ill, are you expected to still know the location of every item in the house, have prepared lunches for any available urchins and be able to answer the question 'what's for dinner' without growling in an antisocial manner?
(4) Do you find yourself being distracted from Nuts online by meaningless drivel written by women who are deeply frustrated that the highlight of their evening was getting to watch Holby City while doing the ironing?

TDiddyIsaMan · 14/07/2009 22:58

another diff is that I am a bit of a wet about private school education where as AbetaDad is an outrider for the cause of private school education

quimotivemonchocolat · 14/07/2009 22:58

and since you are on here..... have you considered asking your GP to prescribe trannieflu (the new Tamiflu alternative for the foofy fancier market).

Pan · 14/07/2009 23:00

man cold on manstrokewoman

you lot just don't understand, or think.

quimotivemonchocolat · 14/07/2009 23:02

Pan, let's be honest, you wouldn't want us to think too deeply now would you? Really?

TDiddyIsaMan · 14/07/2009 23:06

Quimoved: yes it is me who is FluffDaddy. More answers to follow.

TDiddyIsaMan · 14/07/2009 23:09

Thanks for the help Pan but taking on the Mensa sub-group of MN (Quimoved, Quattro and MadameH) is quite a challenge.

TDiddyIsaMan · 14/07/2009 23:12

I am just a simple Guy QuiMoved. Yes to all of your questions.

TDiddyIsaMan · 14/07/2009 23:12

Infact yes to everything that you say

quimotivemonchocolat · 14/07/2009 23:13

DH is that you?

TDiddyIsaMan · 14/07/2009 23:15

you could be married to AbetaDad- he said that his DW is rich, and powerful. Oh and intelligent

quimotivemonchocolat · 14/07/2009 23:25

I'm not powerful, nor intelligent beyond my areas of expertise. His DW is on here though isn't she?

TDiddyIsaMan · 15/07/2009 21:04

AbetaDad- is your DW a MNer? Wonder how many couples are on here. Wonder whether they are anonymous. I have probably already advised my DW that her DH sucks without realising it.

Quimotivemonchoclat- bet you would be high up on MN poll of powerful women. SHould have a sort of powerlist like the Sinday Times does with rich people

Highlander · 16/07/2009 12:22

Tamiflu good for swine flu, but useless for man flu.

Man flu best sorted by a week on the sofa with a prescription of TopGear/Charlies Angels/Obscure war or Kung Fu films.

man flu wull never get better unless you say, 'you're much, much worse than I was last week. Poor thing. You're really ill'.

LongtimeinBrussels · 16/07/2009 15:15

A bit late, but for future threads wmmc, whomovedmychocolate = quiadéplacémonchocolat (motivé = motivated).

whomovedmychocolate · 16/07/2009 17:41

blame babelfish longtime - my french is appalling.

TDiddyIsaMan · 16/07/2009 19:30

I think motivated probably suits :-)

ABetaDad · 16/07/2009 20:44

Unlike Swine Flu, I find Man Flu is incurable, recurring and can only really be alleviated by a life time of nursing care by DW. Sadly, that is not forthcoming so I am periodically reduced to struggling on bravely, sighing weakly and shuffling about wrapped in a duvet from bed to sofa and making my own coffee. Actually, I think I have started feeling a bit nauseous and defintley have developed a sore throat since starting reading this thread.

MMHHHM - "in labour, all men should sit down and keep their mouths shut."

Oh dear, there was me thinking I was being helpful and supportive when I said to DW after her waters broke with DS2 "This will be easy, just like shelling peas, after all you have done it before". I think she may well be getting her own back.

TDiddy/WMMC - DW is not on here. She told me to come on MN though and I often post things she suggests or has said.

misdee · 16/07/2009 20:46

i thought Peter had man flu.

he almost died (does that count as being more serious than swine flu?)

MrsMerryHenry · 16/07/2009 22:51

ABD - ROFL

I was rather harsh, wasn't I? But no regrets!

(Despite my strong comments about men and labour I am still as nice as ever, I assure you )
