I'm in frigging pain, can't get a frigging Drs appnt till Thurs!

I have got ulcers on the back of my throat, well actually it may be on my tonsils, I'm not entirely sure of the biology. All I know is yesterday I had a sore throat and one ulcer there and now it has spread and I have white blotches on the back of my throat. Also you know those little pimply spot things you get on your tongue, I have loads of them.

It kept me awake all last night. I have dazed my way through work and found when I got home that it has got worse, my frigging dr won't give me an appointment till Thursday - bastards. I frigging hate them! I can never get appointments let alone with my doctor!

I'm swollen just below my ear, worse on one side, with white patches on both sides and it is making me feel quite sick. The thing is it doesn't feel like it is a good enough reason to take time off work. Can anyone help? Is this just ulcers or further infection? Is it normal to have to wait 36-48hrs for a doctors appointment and does it sound like I would be skiving if I didn't go into work tomorrow?

I get ulcers and the sore throat/patches on tonsils lots. Generally I know to look for them because I begin to feel really "coldy". Paracetemol helps, and gargling with soluble aspirin is the best but not if you're pg/bf obviously.

Ok, so I'm going to waitrose after the drs. What can I buy to make myself feel better? I'm hungry but can't really eat.

I always like to drink hot bovril/marmite or hot lemon (I make it just with lemon juice from a bottle - or real lemons if you're feeling a bit posh - sugar to taste and boiling water), because I find hot drinks with milk in don't feel quite right.

I do find the warmth soothing. HTH

Harping back to the ice lollies you can get ones are basically frozen smoothies. That might fill a bit of a whole. Or real juice ones. Or even a bowl of sorbet.

Depends if you find hot or cold soothing.

How about soup?

I wouldn't do yoghurt as milky stuff can make it worse but that is the obvious slidy down food.

Just got back from the doctors and dragging myself round waitrose. Got super strength ABs, she took one look in my throat and recoiled in horror.

After being out and about for an hour and a half it is finally taking it's toll. Fortunately DH has taken DD to his mum's. I've got her tomorrow, but I picked up a Peppa Pig fuzzy felt thing for an emergency!

Feeling v sorry for myself, can't eat even though the dr said toast (bleugh) and I'm too hot with my cardi on too cold with it off.

I'm going to simper on the sofa and watch Sex and the City. Thanks for all the sympathy, it's really help.

Oh dear, DH just called to tell me DD has been sick. Great, it's always the way when I am ill, DD or DH has to trump me so tomorrow I have to look after a sick toddler

What a bummer! The joys of motherhood I suppose.

She might well have what you have. DS1 was quite often sick with tonsillitis especially if he had a temperature. It was often the first sign that something was wrong.

Might be something to keep an eye on.

you might need to be careful she hasnt got it also as ds always gets it when i have it as he likes to kiss me alot and obviously passes between us ive caught it from him too his always sick when he gets it runs temp wont eat etc so be careful hope you both feel well soon
