chicken pox when should I panic??

DD2's eyes are nearly closed becaus eof spots and she has a temp. of 103.4. Just spoke to NHSdirect and she just told me how to deal with it, like I didn't know about priton, calpol etc, but what can her temp./ go to before I panic........

how many days is it since this started? It often gets worse, then peaks and then gets better a few days in to the illness. We had to give calpol and ibuprofen to get dd's temp down for a day or two but then it turn the corner and we barely needed any meds after that.

Sorry you and she are having such a rotten time with this.

Just to make sure, you did tell them about the temp didn't you?

Sparklymieow, I would get your dd down to the doctors as soon as possible. My friend's dd also had chicken pox quite badly and especially around her eyes and the doctors gave her some anti-viral drugs to sort it out. Given that she has such a high temp too - I would definitely try and get something to sort her out.

Went to the docs and they have given some drops for her eyes, her temp was 103.5 just now, so given her more calpol, and she is slumped on the sofa, think she will fall back to sleep soon. The doctor did say that her skin immuntity system might be poor which is why she has such a very bad case of CP and why she had a very very bad case of Imtigo (sp??) last year. So when she is better I am going to get that checked.

hi hope your little girl is feeling better soon.if she is really itchy i used rhus tox it is homepathic sorry cant spell,you can buy it in boots it really helps to stop the itching .how old is your dd ,her temp does seem high have you tried nurofen, i find calpol does not work anymore.

Yes, I've heard that nurofen is better.

nieow dont give your dd2 neurofen if she is asthmatic.

shes not Misdee, doctor checked her over... Both girls are up still, they can't sleep and DD2 looks terrible.....

put dd2 in her eczema sleepsuit.

101.3 atm.

she also seems in a lot of pain, she is sleeping atm

is that with calpol in her system?

Does she have spots in her groin or between her buttocks? That could make her walk uncomfortably.

You know that you can alternate Calpol and Nurofen if her temp stays up? So, if Nurofen is given at 6h intervals, then you can give Calpol 3h after the Nurofen.

Also, tepid baths with cornflour and oats will cool her as well as soothe her skin. It's fine for eyes as well.

she had calpol at 9am, her temp. isn't coming down with calpol tho.

like said she is sleeping atm so I am going to let her sleep, because we all had a bad night, two with chicken pox ain't fun!!!

tell me about it, feel drained anyway without the bloodly chicken pox, was supposed to be on holiday this week but cancelled it when DS had it two weeks ago, so glad I did now.

im sure if you are giving nurofen and calpol the calpol should be every 4 hrs not 3
