Shingles - how long does the pain last for?

I was diagnosed with shingles last week - the area with the rash/spots is only a couple of inches long. It's on my side.

The spots have all healed and now it just looks like a bruise but the burning/tingling senation in a strip on my side is getting worse, and when the water hits it in the shower it really is very unpleasant.

How long can I expect this to last for?

I had it on that nerve too. I remember the pain lasting a while but went less. It really knocked me for six though, is the only time I've had to stay in bed when ill

I had it earlier this year and it lasted six weeks (sorry)

I think I've had a pretty mild case as I've not felt too unwell with it and luckily (?!) could easily cover the rash so could go to work.

Thanks for replying.
