cystic fibrosis testing

Has anyone got any experience of this? There is some history of the condition in my partner's family. We had genetic testing before our baby was born (now 7 months) which suggested the chances of him having the condition were low. He's had a series of chesty coughs and I would like him to have CF testing so that I can (hopefully) banish my fears on this subject. Am not sure what it involves and would be grateful for any input.

natt, our first daughter (born in the US) was considered to be "failing to thrive" - actually she just wasn't eating enough - and was tested for CF.
she was very small - 2 or 3 months - and as i recall the test merely involved taking a scraping of cells from inside her cheek. it didn't bother her at all. anyway it was negative - that's our only experience - hope it helps! hope your son is negative too!
