Wisdom teeth - how long off work?

Hello, My DH is having one (maybe two) teeth out tomorrow afternoon under a general.
He thinks he will be ok to go to work on the Thursday but I am concerned he won't want to let people down and will go in when he shouldn't.
DH has good job (director level) and hates letting anyone down but I think he shoudl be prepared that he won't be around for at least thursday (we're going away Friday anyway!)
Has anyone had this operation? how was it for you? Am I being overly cautious?

hi, my DH had all 4 out a while ago

he wasnt able to work for a few days mainly because they clamp your mouth open and the skin was torn/sore in the corners of his mouth.

however he didnt have any toothache/pain inside his mouth

I had all four out at once under a general (was a few years ago!). I was advised to have 2 full days off work after the op - so basically have teeth out one day and next 2 days off. I ended up just taking one day off as I knew they could do with me going in and I felt ok.

The only problem I had was that I couldn't eat anything solid and hot/cold stuff felt odd in my mouth so I spent the day sipping room temp water.

I think a week to get over the GA - they say don't drive etc for at least 48hrs anyway. Depends how much of a hamster he looks afterwards and if they hit any nerves or not.

Why the general? Ive had 2 wisdoms out in the past and just had a local. With the first I was drinking soup through a straw for a few days and it was pretty sore TBH. I had a day or 2 off work. With the 2nd I was absolutely fine and was eating solid food, albeit carefully within a couple of hours and felt fine.

Stupid man basically avoided the dentist for 4 years!!
Think I will keep on at him to work from home at least. If he wold only pre warn people at work that would be something. He says he has conference calls but i doubt he's even going to be able to speak!!

Lol. I had 3 wisdom teeth out on the same afternoon with a local anaesthetic, including one that took over 15 mins to wrestle out as it was so impacted/growing sideways. I was back in work the next morning but had to avoid hot drinks. Maybe he should just see how he feels?
