Am glad you are loads better

MrsGokWan · 09/07/2009 08:08

Morning Ladies,

Kitten, good to here you are on the mend and DD is back at school.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better Daisy and that DS is feeling a bit brighter.

Slept a bit better last night, was in bed at 10.30 which for me is early, I usually don't go till 11.30/12.00. I would have been earlier but I was waiting for the washing machine to finish so DS1 had some uniform for this morning. Managed to get to sleep by midnight by having a couple of teaspoons of honey to stop the coughing. Was a wake again by 5am this morning, hacking away and couldn't get back to sleep again.Guess it's another day on the caffeine again.

DC3(2) had a temp. of 40 degrees last night, so I dosed him with paracetamol and it has come down but will be keeping an eye on him.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/07/2009 13:54

MrsGok - is it one of those tickly night coughs in the throat that you mostly get when lying down? I've had some success in the past taking Clarityn. Wouldnt take anything like that if it was a different cough though.

Hope that your DC3 doesnt get any more temps.

MrsGokWan · 09/07/2009 18:59

No, it's a hacking cough that I have for most of the day and night. My throat is sore now and so is my tongue bizzarly. It's making me short of breath as well, so I am puffing on my Ventolin like mad (this time of year I am usually puffing 5 or 6 times a day.)I am also on the Clarityn as well for hayfever. My torso feels like it has been beaten up and bruised from the coughing as well.

The school runs are killing me though.

DC3 has been fine today. There is a bit of a rash on top of his chest and he has a light cough as well, so we will see.

How has everyone else been today?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/07/2009 19:42

MrsGok - have you done your peak flow? Sounds horrible.
Am glad dc3 is fine.

MrsGokWan · 09/07/2009 21:21

Not recently I must admit. If things are still like this after the weekend when the anti-b's are finished then I am trotting back to the Dr's and getting one done. Daft thing is I usually don't have much of a problem with asthma, a few weeks in summer when my hayfever is at it's worst and when it gets really cold in winter and that's it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/07/2009 22:03

dh has a home peak flow meter, he established a baseline when his asthma was really under control and it makes it quite easy to spot when things are going awry.

MrsGokWan · 09/07/2009 22:55

Hmm! might ask the Doc next time I am there if it is possible to have one. Though this is the first time in donkeys years I have had a problem like this.

TheLadyEvenstar · 09/07/2009 23:35

Oh dear are we all ill?

Saturday - DS1 10, threw up had temp, dihorrea (sp)

thursday - ds2 21m wakes up almost immediatly goes back to sleep wakes up after 20 mins and throws up everywhere.....he has pig flu as well.... he has spent most of day sleeping and having temp between 90 and 104. but been told as long as he still playing he ok...

Friday........HOPING WE ARE ALL BETTER!!!!!!!!!!

MrsGokWan · 10/07/2009 11:26

OMG!! TLE hope things have settled down now in your house. We are just getting cases reported in our town and surrounding area.

I am still hacking and short of breath but am feeling a little better. DH has the day off today and has taken the youngest 2 off out of my hair. I dozed in bed till 10 o'clock, came down and had breakfast. Quick surf on here and I am going back to bed to rest.

How is everyone else this morning? Everyone on the mend I hope.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/07/2009 16:45

oh crumbs TLE - what a week you've all had!

Well done for resting MrsGok

rumours this evening from a fairly reputable source that its in our school now. Am hoping that I had a ridiculously mild non coughing, non feverish variety.

MrsGokWan · 10/07/2009 17:45

Have just got back from an emergancy appointment with the Dr. My DH rang for me as I was going to wait till I finished my anti-b's. He has given 2 new sets of tablets to take and has given me a spacer for my inhalor to make sure I get the full dose of salbutamol.

DC2 now has diareha (sp?)

Oh! well onwards and upwards.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/07/2009 18:20

oh crumbs. Well, its good that you went before the weekend. I hope the new tablets kick in quickly.

MrsGokWan · 10/07/2009 20:05

Thanks Kitten. He has given me Erythroped and Prednisolone. One is an anti-b and the other is steroids. Just read the leaflet for the steroids and it frightened me with all the side effects etc.

Hope you are feeling a lot better now.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/07/2009 20:11

I'm loads better now thanks
Don't worry about the steroid side effects, you'll only be on them for short term and they can be so effective.

imaynotbeperfectbutimokmummy · 10/07/2009 20:31

Oh dear, i seem to be going down with this too. On Monday Dd had sudden raging temp, was crying that she hurt esp under her arm. Temp all day tuesday, said she had a sore throat (shes only three so no other symptoms described). By wednesday morning she was fine.

Felt shitty yesterday all day - lack of sleep, today i feel achy and sore - head ache, but no temp. I hope i just have what DD had, I don't do ill, i really don't.

MrsGokWan · 10/07/2009 21:51

Cheers Kitten, I bloody hope so. I am so fed up with all this.

I hope that you get over it quickly Mummy.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/07/2009 08:39

How is everyone today?

MrsGokWan · 11/07/2009 09:56

Morning Kitten,

Do you know what, I am actually beginning to feel human. Still coughing but it is getting better. Those steroids are really kicking in.

DC2's diareha (sp?) seems to have stop but DC3 now has it [rolleyes emoticon]

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/07/2009 11:12

Hooray that you are feeling a bit better What a pain that your dc3 has it now though. Hopefully once you've been through all this you'll be able to enjoy the summer with confidence.

MrsGokWan · 11/07/2009 21:45

DC3 seems to be a lot better now, thankfully, seems to have been a 24 hour thing with both of them.

I am still coughing but it is just a cough now and not the constant hack, hack, hack. I'm also puffing less on the inhalor and the spacer thing is making it easier.

I flipping well hope it means a good summer, we are having what could be the last ever holiday with my inlaws (MIL has terminal cancer) and we want to make it special for the DC. We are also hoping to spend time camping in Cornwall to visit my Nan as we are not sure how long she has got. We would also like to get up to Scotland as well to see DH's Gran, not so important but would be nice.

Hope everyone in the Kitten household are well.

MrsGokWan · 12/07/2009 13:59

How is everyone today? All on the mend I hope.

TheLadyEvenstar · 14/07/2009 23:00

MrsGok, I too have the damn annoying cough!!! ds1 and ds2 are fine thankfully...but still seems to be lingering with me....
