This is a bit embasassing but the pain and dissomfort has become too much for me to take!

Im severely constipated! I havnt had a propper poo for over a week now! Please suggest something! Ive tried Over the counter remedies, and yesterday I drank 3 litres of fresh orange juice. Still nothing!

I do suffer IBS and take tablets for it.

Somebody please suggest something! I cant see GP till thursday!

at the risk of repeating myself

Linseeds!!!!!! - Holland & Barrett -sprinkle 4 teaspoons on your cereal or in a yoghurt every morning - you should notice some action within (at least) a week probably sooner! (they're marvellous )

Uncomfortable · 16/05/2005 10:27

Thanks problem is we dont have a holland & Barrett near here! Im begining to hink Ive strained something or disloged my IUD. Im in agony now.

Castor Oil? Lactulose? Very hot curry?

Massage your lower tummy to get things moving, or you could massage your perineam (sp?) and sphinter with some oil as this can trigger it (or it could just make you f**t) Allegedly mother cats train kittens to pee and poo in the correct place (litter tray, behind bush whatever) by licking them there to trigger them going to the toilet. It might be worth a try?

Fio2 · 16/05/2005 10:28

what about garlic? it always gets me going

WigWamBam · 16/05/2005 10:29

You can buy glycerine suppositories over the counter. One of those should sort you out very quickly, then you can start taking linseed to stop you getting into this state again.

SenoraPostrophe · 16/05/2005 10:29

or prunes

Uncomfortable · 16/05/2005 10:30

Im ready to try anything. When I phoned GP today they asked me if it was urgent. Would it class as urgent?

WigWamBam · 16/05/2005 10:31

My GP prescribed glycerine suppositories for me over the phone for the same problem, but it's cheaper to buy them over the counter - and they work.

Uncomfortable · 16/05/2005 10:31

If you are in pain, then yes I would class it as urgent. Over a week is a long time.

have you tried sticking your finger up your bum? wearing gloves of course

Flossam · 16/05/2005 10:38

FiO2, that's not reccomended, only done by nurses/ doctors as a last resort!

Uncomfortable · 16/05/2005 10:41

Actually Fio2, yes I did yesterday! that was when I discovered dreaded piles!!!! So I want grapes, linseed, actimel, prunes all mixed in with yoghurt. Sounds nice, as long as it works!
