He's had a lot of headaches during this last 3 months and he doesnt normally get them. he wakes up with them and they sometimes seem to go better as the day goes on.

hes off school today as he has had headache sunday , monday and today. when hes got up he hasnt wanted to eat breakfast which is unusual , he said he was better by 2pm yesterday and then it came back later, he even asked for calpol which he has a BIG aversion too.
hes not what id call ill, i dont think hes got a virus or anything. he has banged his head a couple of times recently though.
im a bit worried as to whats causing it and also why it seems worse in a morning, isnt that the sign of something serious?
any advice?

Are they migraines?

Chaotica · 30/06/2009 11:40

Is he drinking enough water. A headache in the morning can be the sign of dehydration.

meemarsgotabrandnewbump · 30/06/2009 11:47

I wondered about water too, especially in the warmer weather. Dehydration definitely causes headaches.

DS1 came home from school constipated and sleepy yesterday because his water bottle was still full.

hi cheery,
my ds 10 has been diagnosed this year with migraines so we have some experience ,
yes it could be caused by dehydration or stress , my gp asked us to keep a diary for 6 months for ds headaches , how long they lasted & how severe they were on a scale of 10 . 1 Friday he came home from school with a severe headache he went straight 2 bed & was vomiting with it , that particular time the headache lasted 3 days . other times they only lasted 3-4 hours . in the end we were sent to a specialist in the hosp & they a MRI scan which thankfully came back normal ,
cheese & chocolate can cause headaches but i would reccomend you take him to your gp just to be on the safe side .

thanx, i dont think its migraines as they arent as severe as that i dont think. my older boy used to have migraines, he would go white, sick and sleep and then be ok the next day. ds2 said on a scale of 1-10 his were 6 when he got up and now its a 2 .
