Have just done my BMI and its 30

Would me GP prescribe this?

DD was born 7 months ago and since about 4 months I have watched what I eat, we don't drive so we walk everywhere, everyday.

But Im just stuck at the weight I was when she got to 4 months.

Disenchanted.... don't take a drug that will make runny liquid dribble out of your bum.

It's a slippery slope, towards believing that YOU are not in charge of YOU iyswim.

You can bring your BMI down within 10 days to 29.

Instead of taking some stupid drug, try MaggieBeau's 'lose a few pounds in a few days' diet.

Eat all the porridge with unsweetened soya milk you want. Just stop when you're full. Supplement that with watered down orange juice or apple juice, black coffee and 5 pieces of fruit.

One handful of mixed nuts. One small handful of dried apricots.

You will lose some weight and get back under 30 very quickly.

I do this diet every now and then when I realise I've let my weight creep up a bit.

But I don't know, maybe the doctor would prescribe it. Not sure of the answer to that.

It only does that if you eat fatty food though, if you eat non fatty stuff that doesnt happen & you loose weight.
The problem isn't mantaining weight, Its just loosing enough to get to my normal weight, I only put it on in pregnancy then find it hard to loose IYKWIM?

I know, I hear you. I'd love to see nine again. But I think there is something psychological about handing over responsibility for your weight to a tablet.

No I agree it can t be, but my weight problem isn't a long term one either, its a pregnancy one.

once the weight is gone I wont put it back on, unless i get PG which is not going to happen.

So i only need a short term solution to kickstart it coming off.

well, ask the doc and let me know what he says! wear weights in your knickers! i bet a doc might say that a bmi of 30 isn't fat enough

but if you eat a low fat diet anyway then the pills wont make a difference.

They will, because they stop some (30%?) of the fat being absorbed. According to Hecate, who takes it, you lose an additional 50% of every pound you lose. So if you lose 2 lbs a week on a low fat diet you'll lose 3lbs a week on Xenical.

i took these (i eat a low fat diet anyway but have a BMI of 32) they did nothing really for me. in 5 months i lost 6 pounds and i didn't pooh myself once!! My problem i think is my portion size i love eating

I started these at start of June weighing 16st 7lbs. weighed myself today and weighed 15st 8. am exercising 3 - 4 times a week - eating a low fat diet. no oily bum, as am very low fat. probably need to lose around another 4 stone, and don't expect it will move as quickly as this first month.

I agree with the psychological aspect, but to me, when i stopped smoking,i only managed that after months of trying myself, patches, willpower, nicotabs etc, theonly thing that worked was zyban. I lost a stone on my own before starting xenical, but it took 8 months.

so, I am eating fruit and low fat yoghurt for breakfast - on a sunday I get a bacon sandwich with all fat trimmed off. low fat soup for lunch ( I like sainsburies 3 bean soup) tea, decaff and water throughout the day, baked potato and tuna lo fat mayo with HUGE salad and dressing for tea, or pasta with tom based veg sauce or if lazy, microwave ready meal with tons of steamed veg.

seriously, if you feel you want to try it - do. it might not work well for you, but it's worked very well for me so far. i love my little blue pills. and i like getting them on perscription for £4 a month rather than paying a fortune for alli.
