Help ... need a quick answer to a period question ....

Sorry in advance if this is TMI!
My doctor has suggested I go on the pill for 3 months to see if I can sort out my periods.
It has been 100 years since I took the pill so I don't know what I am doing!
I am supposed to take the first one on the first day of my period. BUT .... when is my first day???
The problem is that I was due 'on' yesterday ... had the teeniest bit of spotting then nothing. Today I feel like I am 'on' but again only a teeny bit of spotting this morning ... nothing else ... tomorrow I know it will come properly (this is how it has been for a few months) and with a vengeance.
So ... was my first day yesterday? Is it today? Or will it only be when I start bleeding properly?
I feel really thick asking this ... I am 35 FFS!

i would start taking the pill tomorrow when you are bleeding properly, just remember you are not protected for the first 7 days.

Agree, treat the day you really start to bleed as day 1 of your new pill cycle.
