Children's toothpaste for a mix of milk and adult teeth?

Both my dds have now got a mix of both, so "milk teeth" toothpaste is no longer appropriate, but I don't want to give them adult toothpaste, which has too high a fluoride content (IMO).

Suggestions, anyone?

why don't you just give them a non-flouride toothpaste? like thes

although tbh I think you have no need to worry about flouride as it is beneficial to their teeth

Miaou - I always thought that not getting enough fluoride was more of a problem for children? That's why dentists give fluoride treatments. My dd1 has just turned 7 and is now using the same toothpaste as us.

Hi, my ds is 7 and a dentist he recently had to see at the hospital said he should be using an adult toothpaste (which he has been for about 6 months). He recommended Colgate Total as this will give protection in the mouth for up to 12 hours whereas other ones only last for about 3/4 hours.

Boots Smile for kids (the one with a crocodile on for older kids, not the pink baby one) only has 525ppm and is a nice mild mint - it's called "applemint" but isn't strange. DS2 loves it and he is v picky about toothpaste.

Oh I can't be arsed with separate thibgs for different family members. We all use the same toothpaste,even ds whi is 10 mths old. He likes it!

Croc Smile says it's for ages 6-12 btw, miaou.

My boys use Boots croc smile one too miaou. The only problem is it is very mild tasting, and so now they refuse to try 'normal' toothpaste which is so much stronger tasting.

I think as long as they are not swallowing loads of it, and only use a pea-sized amount, adult toothpaste is fine for children. The problems only occur if they eat it!

My dd is 6.5 and the dentist confrimed recently that it's ok for her to be using adult toothpaste now.

Thanks for all your replies. I've always been wary of the fluoride content because I've heard it can discolour teeth - however on doing a bit more research it seems that it's only a problem if they fluoridate the water, which they don't do round here.

The boots one sounds good Jan and Roisin, maybe give that one a go
