Mine is included in my Denplan but I think it's £30 - tho I'm not sure how long for.

£75 for a 30min appt with the hygienist.

you all need to find a cheaper dentist- I pay £35 in the SE.

Do you all have Dental plans through your dentist/private companies or do you pay up front as and when you need treatment?

i paid £84 last sat.This was for an hour a.as i have never seen an hygenist in my llife and my gums were really sore and bleeding.I was reluctant to go as i hate dentists and it was painfull and uncomftable.
\i am so glad i did go as my gums are much better and they have stopped bleeding.My teeth look much nicer.It was well worth the money.

Have been trying to get through to the private practice who quoted me £85 just for a scale and polish, but it was engaged all morning, so googled another private dentist who offered den plan, phoned them and they said they were told yesterday they had to take on some more NHS patients (the next nearest NHS dentist is a ferry journey away), so I got myself and the 2 DC registered and now only have to pay £16.50 for a polish! Woo hoo. Lucky DH gets all of his free with the forces.

do not move to the uae, i have just paid £125!!! and we dont even get anything free when pregnant....might just move back home for the next 8 months to get everything done

I have an NHS dentist but the hygienist charges for their services separately as they aren't covered. I have PMI but never both claiming as the excess would be higher than the charges.

I pay about £40 I think. Used to have denplan but they changed the %age you could claim back etc so was no longer worth having.

Nothing. I use Elgydium toothpaste and a Braun/OralB electric toothbrush and floss and those little interden brushes and have no dental problems at all.

BonsoirAnna has a point - I floss (it's amazing how few people do) and have a scraper and interdental pick (Sainsburys - about a fiver btw), and it's really helped. In my case, I lost a lot of enamel vomiting in pregnancies so I do have to have them polished professionally twice a year to keep them white but having a decent dental hygiene routine to back that up will really help.

£60 for 30 minutes here, would pay three times that for my guy though. I've recently started going to the dentist after a 20 yr absence and my hygenist is fantastic and has given me so much confidence. He told me today he's leaving though. Am gutted and wondering if it's stalker-ish to follow him to his new practice.

Think its £45 for about 45 minutes. It is private and she is brilliant. Due to go again in 3 weeks and no plaque has reformed on the back of my teeth in the meantime. That has never happened before.

I floss, I thought everyone did?
