Anyone had a tonsil cyst removed?

I have a lovely white lump on my tonsil and the doctor has said that, whilst it will not turn into anything sinister, if it bothers me (which it does) I can get it removed.

I am considering it and wondered if anyone had any experience of the procedure.

its my appointment today and yes it’s with maxilliofacial as they also treat head and neck cancers but I’m terrified of going. I don’t fancy them sticking there finger in my throat as it makes me gag. I emailed them and told them my concerns and was told I’m seeing a lovely lady who is gentle and she won’t do anything I’m not comfortable with but obviously this needs checking. I hope I have a happy outcome like you but it’s the examination I’m dreading so much. Have the tablets helped you at all.

Hiya. Hope all goes good today. Rooting for you. I had thrush in my throat after taking antibiotics for 2 weeks for a cyst elsewhere. I have no idea if it's worked as I can't check. Let me know how you got on. I still have the thing on tonsil.

Oh no that’s not good. I saw a Dr who checked my neck then my lump and said it was a retention cyst but didn’t no if I needed to go to ENT although these are common and benign so she called the consultant who agreed it was this and just said it’s fine but any changes or sore throats then arrange another appointment . It’s something to do with build up from tonsils. As long as mine doesn’t change then hopefully all is well. Trouble is you read Google and it says removal so you feel have they missed anything. I shall keep an eye on it and hope it says the same. Mine is fairly big but always has been how big is yours .

I have 2 and they are still there. I guess it's good that they just sit there doing nothing

Mine isn't big but it's just the same. Not doing anything. It's the least of my worries compared to the monster I have on my upper abdomen.

Yes we were both lucky that we’re not having to have surgery to remove them. Are you very small as mine is about the size of a pea I guess. They told me mine was quite large but you can get large or tiny ones. Fingers crossed they don’t get bigger. I read on Google that they can disappear but can take months. I’ve had mine for about 8 months and can’t see it going. I wonder if they ever burst at all as would soon go then. It’s been great speaking to you as you’re going through the same thing. Same here! I never go to GP but they s year has been non stop. I have a cyst. But I think it's getting better. I'm having it removed soon. I don't know what's going on with these cysts!

Oh I hope it’s ok. These cysts pop up everywhere. I just read the letter about my tonsil cyst and it was called a mucous retention cyst 8mm. Advised to give up smoking. Fingers crossed your cyst will be fine x

Hi. My cyst on body is OK. I've treated it myself with an antibiotic cream. Hopefully reduced enough to remove soon. The throat cyst is still sitting there. 5mm. So a good bit smaller.

Goad your mouth cyst is smaller and the antibiotic cream is helping other cyst. Wonder why we get these. I dont want anymore.
