after pains?

I'm 7 weeks postpartum and have just started getting period like cramps down one side of my tummy and back, they're especially noticiable when I feed DS.
Could they be after pains starting up again at this stage or could it be my period starting again? I am Bfeeding so wouldn't expect a period yet.
anyone else expirienced this?

could be your uterus contracting back into shape.. which i hear that bf is supposed to help? i had really very uncomfortable pain for about 2 weeks after birth..

contact your midwife? always best to be safe..

Definitely sounds like after pains - your uterus contracting, the breast feeding promotes it, mine went on for a while and were so bad at times, it took my breath away. Nature has to shrink you back to normal size somehow!
It does go away, grit your teeth and focus on the feeding to try to take your mind off it.

If you are feeding when the pain increases I would say that it does sound as though it is your uterus shrinking back still. However, to my un medically trained mind it does seem a little odd that this would kind of start up again at 7 weeks if it had previously settled - almost as though something could have stopped it contracting fully earlier. How's any bleeding? I assume this has completely stopped?

I really wouldn't assume 'no periods'. I exclusively BF til 11 months (and used boob as comforter with my first DC!) and my periods went on unabated from about week 8 or around then.
