Especially as one of the reasons for prescribing it is for drink-related withdrawal ... Or am I reading too much between the lines?

lol no it's not for drinking related withdrawal, its for a muscle spasm but i know people take it for depression and are on it for months and wondered if they abstain all that time

No you shouldn't as combined,the med and the drink could give you breathing problems.
