Has anyone else had long periods after a miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage at the end of February (it was my second pregnancy, I already have a toddler). I had a heavy but normal length period at the end of March, but then another period 19 days later, which lasted 19 days! 32 days after that period started (so 13 days after the last one finished)I'm having another period which so far has lasted 10 days. Sorry to go in to so much detail! Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I also seem to have developed acne...

i had what i thought was a long heavy period about 5 weeks after MC but it was actually due to an infection in lining of the womb so definitely worth getting checked out. Quickly sorted out with ABs

Yes, I did. It took about 4 months for my cycle to go back to normal (and I was told this is pretty normal). Did you have a scan to make sure no tissue was left behind? I had a scan and was told there was nothing left, but still had a few cycles which were heavy with clots (again this is normal according to doctors in epu).

Did you take a pregnancy test about a month after your miscarriage? I was told that if after 3 weeks it was still positive then it meant that all the retained tissue hadn't come out.

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage, its really awful. Maybe see your gp to arrange for a scan if you haven't already had one and to check you don't have an infection.

Thanks for all your replies (and sympathy, I appreciate it). I did have a scan after the miscarriage and they said it was complete. I also did a pregnancy test which was negative. And have been swabbed for infection. I guess it is just the post MC hormone storm but am getting weary of it and hadn't heard of anyone else experiencing similar thing. But thanks englebart, that's reassuring (although sorry you too went through this).

Hopefully things will start returning to normal for you soon Eggle. I know how depressing it can be. Its only this month that things are back to normal for me - last month still had a bit of brown blood when I wiped, tiny amounts but enough to think "when is this going to stop". I've heard of women whose body have got back to normal really quickly and some even go on to conceive again immediately but for others (like you and me!) it can take our bodies longer.

Thanks engelbart. Thankfully, this period has finally stopped! Hopefully it will all get back to normal soon. Glad things are better for you now. Good luck!
