DD has chicken pox; do I still go to the ball?

Had to happen really as a fair few of her nursery friends have had them or currently have them, including her best friend. She was fine this morning - although I did only see her very briefly to give her a quick kiss and cuddle before I went off to work. DH showered and dressed her and she was fine.

But he got a phone call this afternoon from nursery, ad the satff said that they though she had chicken pox. They'd seen a few spots, a couple with blisters. But she was in good spirits and happy with herself, so no need to collect her early.

So, DH did pick her up a bit early anyway and brought her home. When I got back I thought I would have a look - and true enough her front and bak, her neck, hair line and her bottom have quite a lot of spots on them. They are even in her "bits" too Think they are starting to itch a bit too, but she definitely isn't poorly - laughing and running about, talking non stop.

She's in bed now.

But tomorrow afternoon I am supposed to be having my hair highlighted and my eye brows waxed. My dad is supposed to be coming over to look after her for the hour or two it will take.

And Saturday night me and DH have tickets for a ball. We paid a fair bit of money for them, and have had it planned for weeks. My mum and dad are supposed to be babysitting.

But do I go to these two things?

How will DD be by then? At the moment she isn't poorly - is she likely to start to feel poorly?

Oooh - and now I just feel all itchy everywhere!

have just phoned up to cancel the holiday and hopefully get it moved to sometime in sept... I can't risk taking them if the girls break out in spots while we are away... am waiting for the holiday place to phone me with some dates

Hulababy · 06/05/2005 21:14

Oh no mieow; for the best I guess though. Hope a suitable date is available. How is your DS doing?

DD is still happy as anything, and not poorly at all. She has a few more spots, a bit of itching - but the Piriton seems ot be keeping it in check. She had a great time with my dad this afternoon - soilt rotton probably, but kept having to show him her spots for a count every so often.

I moved the holiday to the 3rd October, I know it will be cold but hey... I am going to book at last minute deal with Haven when the kids are better for June hopefully.
Ds is a bit better but the amount of spots that have come out is unbelievable, he has them everywhere My parents came round and said it was the worst case they have ever seen..

Hulababy · 06/05/2005 21:40

Oh bless him. Hope he is better soon.

he can't eat either because he has spots all over his gums and tonugue, and he said tha some are in his throat

Poor boy Sounds very unpleasant.

Strange how it can be so different in everyoone isn'tit? I know when I had it it was horrid - painful, sore and felt realy ill. My sister had it and had no problems at all - not a moment's illness. Odd.

How is she today Hula? Hopefully not too bad and you're dressed to the nines and ready to go........

Aero · 08/05/2005 15:31

Did you get to go Hula? How was it?

Aero · 08/05/2005 19:43

Ahem! - Did you go?

Aero · 08/05/2005 19:43

(and of course, how is dd?)

Hulababy · 08/05/2005 19:47

We did go and had a fantastic night, thanks. Was great fun

DD is fine. I am amazed at how not poorly she has been. She literally just has spots, and nothing else. She isn't even itching today or yesteday. We have been out and about in the car and house hunting - we asked the sales man if he'd had chicken pox and we got to look round the house (which we have bought now) on our own, so no risk to anyone. My mum took her for a walk in her pushchair yesterday afternoon - she was tired but wouldn't nap. The fresh air knocked her out though Mum just walked on streets which were empty. LOL!

She doesn't even have many spots and I am sure there were no new ones today. Will keep her from nursery this week, obviously - PILs will do Tuesday as normal, DH will do Wednesday and I'll do Thursday.

We have been so lucky!

glad to here you had a good time and the DD isn't suffering too badly.

if she's up to it and you fancy a break pop up thursday pm. Dito for Weds Al's day at home so if DH wants a break then bring her up. I'll hopefully be in Leeds for lunch with some friends.

Aero · 08/05/2005 19:54

Brilliant Hula - on both counts! So glad she wasn't miserable with it and that you got to go to the ball!

Hulababy · 08/05/2005 19:55

Thanks - will see how we go and how she is; make sure they are all scabbed over!

BTW Katzguk - This is our new house - the Kensington
