Thyroid test results.

I have just had my second lot of thyroid tests done and GP suspected hypothyroidism but they have both come back as hyperthyroid? the first lot TSH was 0.11 and T3 was 11. Second lot was taken yesterday and told 7 days for results but they rang this morning not even 24hours later saying I need to see the GP on Tuesday, I asked for Wednesday but was told it had to be Tuesday. Second set of results were TSH >.02 and T3 21.

Should I be worried or are they just being cautious?

TIA.

Bumping for you

They are being cautious because it is something that needs to be dealt with asap. It can have long term implications when not dealt with and they will want to prevent this. However it is probable that they want you to see a specific doctor and they may not be working wednesday or simply be overbooked already. DOn't worry until you have spoken to doc and then don't worry as you are in good hands. Plus it doesn't take 7 days to run test just 7 days to get specialist to check results before sending out and it is possible the test was done same day as specialist picked up results!

Don't worry, they just need to treat you as it is clear you have hyperthyroidism and should be treated. What was the gap between the 1st and 2nd test ?
Have you got hyper symptoms - do you feel panicky, shaky, hot, hungry, irritable, generally awful ?

Thanks frustratedmom and mousemole.

Mousemole - yes I do have a few symptoms - fast heart rate(120 resting) constantly hot and sweaty, most of them actually except the losing weight one, which the think is because I can out eat a rugby team at the moment!

oopsa, annoyingly i gained weight ! Looking back it was because I was so hungry all the time but too tired to exercise ! The second time I had it I did lose quite a bit of weight. Take it easy - your body is under a lot of strain at the moment. My endocrinologist summed it up nicely when he said 'for yout body, it's like your foot being stuck on the accelerator of a car', i.e your body is doing everything at high speed !

Thanks Mousemole. That has helped my worries, I have gained weight, tired etc. do no one thought I would be hyper they were testing for hypo.

thyroid is a complicated business ! After DS 1 I thought I was hyper - couldn't sleep, irritable etc, but the blood test came back as of the scale hypo ! i even lost weight when hypo which was very odd. Good luck with it all.
