I was going to say pregnancy. I am much more tired than normal but no pregnancy here.

Bump for someone who knows.

Have you thought about narcolepsy? This runs in my family and can make you feel v v tired indeed. It can also come on later in life when you have previously been non-symptomatic. How old are you? I think it's more likely to start in young adulthood than later in life.

I was thinking the same as Horton. Go to your GP and tell him how worried you are. It can be dangerous, especially if you are a driver, for instance.

You need to have some investigations done anyway, to establish the cause of your tiredness.

Narcolepsy is v treatable, btw. So please don't worry too much.

def have a blood test to see if anything amiss.

Horton · 18/05/2009 21:30

If you want to know any more, I can help a bit. My aunt is v active in the UK Association of Narcolepsy so I know a fair bit about treatments and stuff. She's had dreadful narcolepsy all her life and my grandma also suffered from it. I have some of the minor symptoms and most of my family have sleep problems of one type or another! So do ask if I can be of any help.

Also, be aware that many GPs know little or nothing about narcolepsy so you may have to make a bit of a fuss to get taken seriously. This is one condition where a bit of research goes a long way!

I've got epilepsy and feel really tired all the time and 'switch off', which is a type of fit. Just a slight possibility I had my first fit at 26 btw.

has your blood been checked for anaemia? It may also be worth asking for a coeliac blood test as gluten acts as a sedative on some people. Would be surprised if it came on that quickly though.

Also ask anyone who sleeps with you if you snore as sleep apnoea would make you tired in the day.
