Laxatives while Breastfeeding?

Is there anything I can take? DD2 is only 3 weeks and so BF exclusivly so bit wary of taking unsuitable tablets. But basically (sorry if TMI) my stools are so hard it is really painful. Hoping it is just what I have been eating and when I start eating healthy again it will all clear but could do with a quick fix for the next day or so as (TMI) my bum is bleeding because of it and really dreading going to the loo which just makes it worse.

Any advice?

Glycerine suppositories will clear your back log IYSWIM

They soften the stool, take perhaps 15 mins to half an hour to work so make sure you are near the loo ! Get them from your pharmacist.

If you dont want to use laxatives you could eat wheetabix and All Bran for breakfast everyday and make sure to drink plenty of water everyday at least 2litres per day.

You should see your gp also, The pain and bleeding sounds like you could also have piles.

senna tablets and lactulose was what i was prescribed and i was ebf too.. the senna helps soften the stool, and lactulose 'pushes it along'!
