hysteroscopy, D & C and insertion of mirena. Am I going to be ok for work the next day?

I'm having these under a GA in the morning. Anyone had any experience of this, am I going to be as good as new the next day or bent double with stomach cramps and bleeding?

You won't be bleeding or bent double but you will be recovering from the GA so I would suggest that you need the day after off at least - 2/3 days would be better.

Thanks roquefort, all I've been told is I will only be under for about 15 mins so hopefully not too much recovery time needed with a light GA.

From personal experience you'll be fine for gentle work (assuming you're home fairly early, I was home by 2-3pm?) the next day and be absolutely fine by day 2. I had exactly the same procedure, I was not working at the time but had to be in hospital by 07:30 (on a Sat) and was home at about 14:30. I felt tired that day and went to bed early but was absolutely fine the next day (drove car, took DS to party etc).

...& Mirena is great [great]....

Have to be in at 8am and should be ready to go home by 1pm. I keep seeing very mixed views on threads re. mirena. But I look upon it a something which could actually change my life. No more planning things so they don't happen around my period etc etc. I believe if it doesn't work, taking it out is very simple procedure.

I had the hysteroscopy done with no anaesthetic and it wiped me out for 3 days. Had a D&C under a spinal and was okish the next day.

As long as you have the GA in the morning, yes.

I love my Mirena, and know 3 women who have them and are totally happy with them too. I had my first for 4 years, removed to TTC, and have had this one for nearly 3 years.

Taking it out is a 2 min job, so no issue if it doesn't work out for you

Hopefully one days rest will suffice. I'm sure if men had to go through such things they would take at least a month off.

I had to take a week off after exactly the same procedures you are to have. No probs re gynae stuff and it's the best thing I've had done and has sorted probs. BUT the GA wiped me out and left me feeling woozy for a week - was dizzy and not fit to drive.

I've had two babies with no pain relief, so not a woos.

All the best with it.
