constant dry cough in 2 year old....

Help!!! My 2yo DD has had a persistant dry cough every night since march. She is on an inhaler which sometimes helps but does anyone else have experience of this and does it ever stop? The Doc said irritated airways which can either mean asthma or it just goes away apparently....

A little girl in ds2's gymnastics class was like this. They thought it was asthma but it turned out to be a very persistent bronchitis. She underwent two rounds of antibiotics and it cleared up.

but doc listened to her chest n said it was fine plus no temperature, was it the same?

my DD who is nearly 6 has this on and off. It seems to come and go of it's own accord and nothing we give her seems to touch it. Have been to the docs loads and they have no idea what it is either. If anyone can help please post! (sorry floppy for thread hijack!)

I don't know what it is either - my dd (nearly 6) has had the same thing since last September. The cough gets much worse about 15 minutes after she goes to bed. I have also been to the doctors loads of times, they have NO idea what it is and are very reluctant to label her asthmatic, so no inhalers or anything offered. We have been told to treat it as an unspecified allergy, and she is on Piriton every night, which does help a bit (usually).
