Suspected IBS...what now?

I've been having some stomach pains for a few months so I went to my doctor feeling like an idiot for having all these vague symptoms. She said it sounded like IBS and gave me some pills to take when it hurts. And that was it. I'm feeling quite confused, a bit p*ssed off that they didn't say more and fed up of having stomach ache.
Should I go back and ask for more info as I don't really know much about this

I'm in the same position as you. Have started on Buscopan. Am also going to start taking a probiotic and cut out wheat.

I have had a load of blood tests and everything has come back normal.

Do you have any other symptoms? Did she feel your abdomen? How are your bowels?

I have been to the doctor 3x now. The last doctor has been the most positive, we are trying these tabs for a month and if nothing has changed I have to go back.

I'm mostly suffering from stomach ache but have had wind, headaches and some nausea. I also get pressure in my bowels and have to run to the toilet occasionally! The doc felt my abdomen & back and said that all seemed fine there. I've tried the tablets (meb something or other) and they take the pain away when it's really bad, what I didn't ask was how long I'm on them and is there anything else I can do?
DP says I should phone and ask for advice.
I haven't even thought about my diet yet!
