Is Amoxycillin one of the antibiotics that stops the pill working and how long does it take to do that?

it would take a day or so to stop working do you think?

Yes it does, but no idea as to the time frame.

If you're concerned have you considered the morning after pill?

foxinsocks · 12/05/2009 20:30

no should be fine. Am just a bit annoyed that neither the GP nor the pharmacist thought to mention it to me. I know we are supposed to take charge of our fertility but I haven't taken antibiotics for years and had completely forgotten about this and god forbid, I hadn't realised today .

thanks btw. Have checked the time frame and will double check with pharmacist tomorrow.

It is a bit useless isn't it? My GP/pharmacist didn't think to mention it to me once as I'd been prescribed them before.

As I was ill it just didn't occur to me, and one split condom and very late in the day (as hadn't thought it'd be an issue iyswim) morning after pill later....

any antibiotic can in theory interfere with the pill. the advice is to use other precautions (abstain or use condoms) for the course of the abs and the week after. if that includes your pill free week, the advice is to run the packs together, ie don't have a pill free week. you won't have a bleed.

HTH, Cass.
