I'm so fed up of being sick with minor ailments and minor conditions that keep reoccuring...how often are you ill and does anyone have any good pointers for good health?

I am annoyed as I keep getting ill. Brief rundown...

  1. Broke my nose severely in 95. Had an operation to correct in 96 but it wasn't fully successful as nose was so mangled so I get sinusitis, often. They can do the surgery again but have been warned there's only a 50/50 chance of making things better.
  1. I have a mildly inflamed gastro system. So nothing major but I often have gastritis and nasty reflux. There's a possibility this is the start of Crohns but not fully diagnosed yet as my 'outbreaks' aren't regular or frequent enough to do more tests.
  1. I am permanently anaemic. Not majorly so but always under the recommended level.

Now those things together are causing me major hassle. I'm at home from work today as I have a nasty sinus headache (which has spread to my ear) and have been vomiting. And I can barely think of a month in the last 6 months where I haven't had something like this grrr.

So how often do you get ill and what healthy living tips do you have?

Yes - the lemon thing shouldn't be more than one cup a day and you should give at leat 20 minutes between drinking it and doing anything else - tooth brushing, eating other foods etc.

thanks, yes I like floradix and it's gentle on my stomach.

How interesting bling because I have a feeling my gallbladder is causing some of this too.

Poor you, sinus headaches are miserable.

I have to take good care of my health these days - I had viral meningitis just over a year ago and it left my immune system in tatters (actually I caught it because I'd allowed my immune system to get into tatters tbh). Very good advice from Bling, which I'll take note of for myself! the things I find helpful for immunity are:-

Wellness Formula (huge smelly tablets, very expensive sadly) as soon as I notice an infection starting - it contains garlic, echinacea, ginger, loads of stuff - pretty much every herb with a reputation for boosting immunity.

Sambucol - (also pricey...) all through the winter. If it's too expensive a mega-dose of Vit C is probably almost as good.

When recovering from an infection I open all the windows wide, even if it's freezing outside, and get under a couple of duvets with hot water bottles etc. and drink lots of hot water with lemon juice, grated ginger and manuka honey.
