Viral illness

DH as a viral illness which started off as viral conjunctivitis on Friday and by Saturday he was in agony. It was diagnosed on Monday but there's nothing he can do about it. He also has achy limbs and a sore throat, which we assume is related to the virus. As well as an eye which is almost closed and completely bloodshot.
How long is this likely to go on for, and when should he go back to the doctors?

Hope he gets better soon. Could be a week, could be two. As it's viral there wouldn't be any need to go back to the doctor, just let it run its course. Rotten I know.

Thanks. Just wondering as his symptoms seem to have got worse - he really only mentioned the eye but now he seems to have the flu symptoms. I know there's nothing they can do but it's just so frustrating!

I would go back to the doctor, myself, if the symptoms have gone on this long and have only got worse rather than better. I never risk anything where my eyes are involved!!!

well if anything the eye has got a bit better, it's the rest!
I'm also wondering about a doctor's note as he's likely to be off for a while although technically he worked from home today so I suppose not

well he seems to be finally getting a bit better (it;s been almost a week since first symptoms). Eye still half closed and sore and he still feels as though he's in those couple of days before you get a bad cold (cold all the time, achey etc) but no longer feels dreadful and eye is starting to look a bit less inflamed.
Just thought I'd post that as a message of hope for anyone going through similar

Glad he's on the mend.

Thanks
We're meant to be having a party for Ds tomorrow (well we are, I've bought the stuff asnd am making the cake) but not sure if he's up to it. Might have to banish him to the spare room with party food and DVDs
