I'm 30 wks, and had to have 2nd fasting blood sugar test this morning because the first results got lost. Did anyone else having the test, expereince an icky feeling, being generally spaced-out, with a more noticeable heartbeat, a few hours later just from drinking that yukkie-sweet [my opinion] lucozade? Any recommendations?
Could this mean that the test might come back positive?
Cheers,

Did you have the glucose tolerance test stickle? I did, and felt a bit spaced out afterwards. The phlebos did say to stay in the department for a while after drinking it, so it must be a common side effect.

I too felt utterly shite after fasting GTT. In pregnancy I have been mostly caffeine-free and not only is the glass of Lucozade the equivalent of having 6 gazillion teaspoons of sugar, it's also chock full of caffeine as well. They had to scrape me off the ceiling for the second blood test. I'm sure the caffeine hit (following a 12 hour fast) does bugger all to help the blood sugar levels either, never mind the sugar.
Hope you're feeling better today

Yep, was glucose tolerance test.
Gosh, [polite form of another word that more readily springs to mind!] I had no idea it has loads of caffeine in it, as well. Will check bottle. & thanks for that. If they loose this one, I am NOT doing it again.

Definately feeling better today [am working, as I couldn't use my brain properly yesterday], but felt miserable last night. Despite being hardly emotional with this pregnancy, I burst into tears when my husband accidently boiled the door bell battery in with the rice [HOW???], and had to chuck the whole lot away, and cook more.

Lithium poisoning on top of sugar overload.
Definately too much energy for one day

Oh - I passed by the way - should have mentioned that! I failed GCT but then passed fasting GTT and that was with having the shite feeling you decribed StickleTick.
How indeed re: the poached doorbell - a definite case of sympathy preg-head on the part of your DH
