hi south
i had a bad tatse too ,are you ab's ? they can cause a bad taste too

southeastastra · 01/05/2009 12:49

no, not on any abs. it's closing up so seems to be healing ok. it's just when i put my tongue on it it tastes weird.

my dad says 'don't put your tongue on it then'

What kind of taste, could it be where it is bleeding a bit still?

When I have had a teeth out, it tastes metallic for quite a long time afterwards.

Are you gargling anything? You could gargle with salt water or diluted TCP after you eat.

If it's an infection, I would think it will be tender too, there isn't really anywhere for the pus to go, so it doesn't take much to really hurt. It can get pretty nasty if it is infected, so I would get back to the dentist if you've an inkling it is.

thanks for answering poppity. i rinsed with tons of salt and it doesn't taste too bad now. wondering if it was a stray bit of food stuck in there. doesn't hurt. jaw aches though think that's normal.

Yeh, mine did ache too, I guess that's the pulling!?
I know your pain, I've been true to the old wives' tale and had a wisdom tooth out per child

nannygirl · 01/05/2009 22:29

Gargle more with salt water. Foul taste but best thing for it IMO.

Mine ached for ages afterwards (sorry!)

thisisyesterday · 01/05/2009 22:34

erm you shouldn't really gargle or swish anything around it because you'll lose the clot in it and end up with a dry socket which is horribly painful.

Poppity · 01/05/2009 22:37

That's true! I remember being told that, but only for a day or two after, the OP had hers out over a week ago. After that I was told it was ok to swill out as it difficult to clean otherwise?

southeastastra · 01/05/2009 22:38

had it out last week, think i'm safe from any dry socket problems (hope so anyway!)

jaw is really sore and have two black holes in socket lego shaped
