Hoping someone with more pill experience can help and suggest whether I am normal or not! Dr put me on Dianette for skin and advised to start pills on first day of period. Did so a week ago last Friday and have taken one a day for the past 10 days - is this normal when you start taking the pill, or shoudl I have stopped by now, as I work my way round the packet, I keep thinking it will be time to set off again by the time I have finished! (Maybe body is getting use to pill? bleed is much lighter but definatley still there...) Thanks

I would say its just your body getting used to the extra hormones. you will have to give it at least 3 months to settle properly. My friend takes the same one as you and she had the same problem. i used to take mercillon and it did the same too. The best thing to do is see how it goes for the first 3 months if it gets better carry on. When it gets to another 3 months, have a break for a month (use other forms of contraception) then start again. You should ideally have a break every 3 months. I didnt and made this mistake. It messed my cycle up so bad and so now I just cant take it anymore.

Thanks for your help chellesgirl - had always had slightly pequliar periods and dithered about going on pill - but the bonus of killing 2 birds (skin and contraception) was hard to pass off! Will see if it settles, just had visions of being on forever. Incidently dr said come back in 3 months and I am going away on a long haul sunny trip around that time, is it likely that she will give me another month to keep things regular when I am away and then a break after or am I goingt to have to go through the headaches and funny bleeding in 40 degree heat too?!!

No you dont. theres a pill that you can take just for 7 days just before you start your period. it delays it. My frind does this regularly when she goes away if she knows shell be on then. enquire with the nurse.
