Stuck Farts!

My DS is 1 and has started waking up middle of the night screaming in pain because he can't fart, poor little man!

We have recently stopped BFing, could this be the cause?

Are there any suggestions anyone can give me as to how I can help him? Baby exercises maybe? I hate seeing my little man so distressed.

Thanks

have you tried gently cycling his legs while he is lying in his back?

gentle massage of his tummy in a clockwise motion around his belly button might help too?

banana used to give my Dcs terrible night tummy aches so I limited banana to mornings only

Hello Boys thanks for your reply.
Yes, we did that last night, we used to do it when he was a teeny and had constipation too. HV's taught us baby massage and it helped lots - but that was a year ago!! weird how it's just come back though?

Poor lamb was in so much pain last night we just brought him downstairs, off with the growbag, and he crawled speedily round the floor. After 45 mins he had a pump- it was 5am by this time and I think we'd woken up the rest of the street!!!

I'll keep on with it - he is awake now but not crying or screaming, just having a chat with himself so this is hopefully better than last night (fingers crossed)

I notice you say you have just stopped BFing, is he taking formula now or cow's milk.

When i stopped BFing mine went onto Formula for a little while and they had awful trapped wind, I changed formula from SMA to Aptamil and it disappeared over night.

I also found that giving them those Actimel yoghurt drinks once a day really helped trapped wind.

Actimel!! Brilliant idea, I'll try that.

He's on cows milk now, has been for about a month - he's been fine until this weekend when we have stopped bfing, maybe he's allergic to not bfing ....
