Chest Pains on right hand side

Hi there, I'm going through a stressful period at work recently and have started getting intermittent chest pains on my right hand side. This also happened a couple of years ago when again I had a lot on at work.

As its right hand side I'm not unduly bothered but its a bit annoying and don't know whats causing it. Any ideas ?

What sort of pain is it? Tight? There when you breathe in? Where exactly is it?

Hi its right hand side just above my boobs and feels tight.

Is it painful to breathe? A pulsating pain?

rookiemater · 24/04/2009 22:38

Thaks for getting back, no fine to breathe, not really pulsating more sharp.

I don't know. Sometimes you can get pain that is actually coming from somewhere else. I would pop to A&E incase you have dextracardia (heart on the right side not the left). You should check any chest pain.

go to a&e just to get checked out or phone nhs direct

NHS Direct will direct you to A&E, I'd just go straight there and cut out the middle man.

Is the pain related to anything- ie does it come on after exertion/eating, or is it completely random? What relieves the pain? I think you could safely rule out dextrocardia, as if you've been to see your GP about this before, and they listened to your heart, he/she'd have noticed an absence of heart sounds on the left side.
Do you think it may be related to the stress you're under at work? Anxiety and stress can have all sorts of weird physical symptoms. It's worth getting an appointment with your GP to get checked out - let us know how you get on

Seems to have gone away now, haven't had it checked before, but if it comes back will get checked out. Thanks for the responses.
