What is causing this (emetophobes don't enter)

For about 2 weeks I've had on and off nausea/feeling like I will vomit.

It started of as brief moments, but is now increaing.
Tuesday morning I thought I was going to vomit but it wore off by lunchtime, and yesterday I was fine.

Tonight its back, and its getting to the stage where I am having "surges" I can feel at the back of my throat, but they don't make me gag iyswim. Drinking water calms it down for a while, but then its back. The feeling is very much in my throat rather then in my stomach like when you KNOW you will be sick imminently.

Any ideas of causes?
I am definitely not pregnant, nor allergic to anything I know of.

Have you eaten or drunk anyting in particular on the days you've felt sick?

MadreInglese · 24/04/2009 13:49

Do you feel dizzy? (am thinking ears maybe)

FrankMustard · 24/04/2009 13:50

Could it be that you're fighting a sickness bug? A few friends and I had similar a while back and our children kept dropping like flies with a bug but we seemed to stave it off save for the nausea. If it's starting in your stomach that definitely sounds like somethings not agreeing with you so probably worth keeping a note of what you eat and when this nausea comes/is worst etc and seeing if there's a pattern.
If it continues I would see your gp just to check there's nothing else going on - sometimes hormones can play a part. Not got any other thoughts on this, sorry.

Psychological causes?

Are you worrying about being sick? Waiting for the nausea feeling?

If you've had this for 2 weeks it's unlikely to be an illness.

Have you been stressed lately? Depressed or worried about something? Have you been around someone who was ill and were worried you might catch it? Does it have any particular pattern i.e. times of the day when it peaks?

My bet is psychological causes.

Are you dieting?

NorthernNell · 24/04/2009 16:05

Could it be heartburn relateted? are you hungry or is it after certain foods? Thinking acidy/fatty.

chickchickchickee · 24/04/2009 19:40

Not dieting, not dizzy, not after any particular foods I've noticed, but I will make a note of what I eat and if/when symptoms occur to look for a link

The sickness bug is something - had similar episode early new year when the rest of work came down wit vomiting, but it went after a week or so.

Am stressed, but am def not worring about being sick - it comes and goes when i'm in the middle of doing things normally, with my mind active, its not be thinking i feel sick then suddenly i do. No set times, has been on waking up, mid morning, lunch time, in bed, you name it!

Its horrible. Not had it today so far thankfully

had the exact same thing a couple of weeks ago. Only symptoms were nausea and feeling really tired. Lasted about 1 1/2 weeks on & off. Was told a bug was going round with these symptoms

chickchickchickee · 24/04/2009 19:50

Oh interesting, as I have been really drained too, but put it down to being busy at work

Maybe it is this bug? seems to fit?
