i'm a single mum of 2 boys (aged 5 and 2) and i'm scheduled for keyhole surgery on my knee in abut 8 weeks time. Can anyone give me a really rough idea of recovery times. (i'd really really really like to keep to the absolute bare minimum the amount of time i'm at my mum's mercy)

thanks in advance

depends what you're having done. I had a keyhole tidy-up job, sorted out loose bits of cartilage and washed out all the debris, when I was 18yo. Was happily hopping round on crutches the same day and walking a couple of weeks later. If you're having ligament surgery it will take a good bit longer.

I have crumbling kneecaps and had keyhole surgery to scrape the backs and like gigglewitch, wash out the debris! Had it done when i was 17. They had me up and about on crutches the next day and i used crutches for 6 weeks, plus i had physio twice a week for 8 weeks.

the doc reckons i've got a tear in my cartilage or my ligaments but my knee caps are also knackered and need to be scraped. Waiting for an MRI so he can see exactly what is wrong and decide what type of surgery we do.
either way i'm not looking forward to it.

Rather depends I'm afraid. Can be non weight bearing for a while which is a PITA, very much depends on what is being done.

And even with a good image (MR) what they think they are going to do, and what they actually do can be different.

Sorry for such an unhelpful post....

Good luck.
