Ie. How many days can the baby blues last before it becomes more serious?

Hi, I suffered from baby blues for about 6 weeks after ds was born. I went to talk to doctor about it to make sure it wasn't anything more serious and think you should do the same. My Dr was great, told me it was very normal to feel tired, emotional, teary and generally a bit down after having a baby. Told me to go and demand lots of cuddles from dh and that if I felt like being grumpy, be grumpy! She also told me to go back anytime if I felt worse, or didn't feel any better in a months time. It did get better, think it was mainly down to exhaustion, I had an 18mth old and new baby with no family near by and dh working away alot.

Don't feel bad about it, it's hard work and tiring and it is normal to feel down. If you do suspect post natal depression there's lots of help for that to.

Are there any friends you can talk to? I found chatting to some of my mum friends really helped, and was amazed how many had felt the same!

Do hope you feel brighter soon, it's all worth it in the end and remember, lots of hugs from whomever you can get them!
