Ok, I have endo..after several months of pain & lots of signs of it I finally went to the GP yesterday.

He done an examination, checked my kidneys, cs area etc..then said it does sound v much like endo.

He's given me some pain killers, can't remember name right now, sorry for the pains mid cycle/few days before period.

So, if they don't work I've to go back & be referred to Gynae then.

I've got 2 Children from a previous r/s but what happen if I want more one day? How difficult is it to get preg with Endo?

Any others tips/advice would be great, Tia.

I've also got endo. I got pregnant really quickly, it just depends on where the cells are i think. I've got to see the gynae next month as none of my treatment has worked, so hope to have another baby then a hysterectomy. Hope the treatment works for you

Hello

I was diagnosed in 1994 and had a few sessions of diathermy and laser to it over the years (when it flared up).
Have since gone on to conceive 4 little darlings naturally. try not to worry, you've been ok with your other 2 so will probably be fine I hope.

Hi Claire,

www.endo.org.uk is both a useful and informative website.

I would educate yourself further re endo so you are better informed re both endometriosis and treatment decisions re it.

I have endo and am now a parent. I conceived soon after surgery on the endo deposits.

Some women with endo do find it more difficult to conceive, others may not have this problem.

BTW a hyst is not necessarily the treatment of choice for endometriosis these days as endo can recur post hyst).

Thankyou for the replies

The doc thinks I've had it before Children, it took 18mths to conceive my DD (was in long term r/s) but I got caught with DS when she was 5mths (so I now have a 2 & 3yo).

My periods have never ever been regular, but they never were so painful as they are now..

Am I right to feel happy that I had my children when I did? As this will get worse right?!

I'll see how the tablets work when I get the pains & go from there

Thankyou again.

if your doc thinks you have endo, s/he should have referred you to a gynae - it can only be diagnosed by a laparoscopy (unless its in the form of cysts on your ovaries - this can be seen on ultrasound) you need to push for a referral and proper diagnosis

ive had it years and conceived my DD straight after a lap to clear the endo. this was after being told i was sub fertile
i know lots of women with endo who have conceived, so try not to fret too much

i dunno, it doesnt sound like it - but endo is commonly misdiagnosed as IBS

pain on ovulation is one endo symptom, but you are then (in my case) in pain, not just discomfort for next 2 weeks or so till period starts

however all cases are different

have to go now, got an appointment

Iworryalot · 23/04/2009 14:33

thanks for reply , i googled and now terrified ...

ouchitreallyhurts · 23/04/2009 15:10

worryalot - please see your GP and see if they can put your mind at rest.
in my own experience, the endo was on my bowel so at certain times of the month, my bowel habits were altered - they felt 'irritable' if that makes sense?!
as others have said, each case can be different and i know from nursing in gynae that someone wiht mild endo can suffer extremely painful symtoms when another person with severe endo doesnt' even know they have it until a routine hysterectomy for example! it all depends on where the disease is, our personal pain thresholds, levels of anxiety etc.
what kind of pelvic internal exam was it? was it a laparoscopy?(ie.telescope though small hole in your tummy?) if so it shoudl have shown if you have endo or not. If not, you could ask your Gp to refer you to gynae now.

please dont' be terrified though, nothing is untreatable here

Iworryalot · 23/04/2009 15:17

Thankyou for reply .... i am terrified ... iv googled and now think i have all sorts ..
i had an internal scan last year bit like when you scan to see baby in tummy but a long probe thing internal , he took pictures and then came back and told me all was normal .
i have appt tomorrow with my lady doc ,so hoping she can reasure me also ..

ouchitreallyhurts · 23/04/2009 15:23

Problem with googling is that you can find all sorts of scary things that fit anything that we might have wrong why not write down your main symptoms and take that with you to see the lady dr. it might help to keep you feelign a bit calmer.
I dont' think a TV scan (the one with the scary probe) would show endo usually - unless there were cysts from the disease on ovaries etc, but get seen tomorrow and let us know how you get on please?

Iworryalot · 23/04/2009 16:02

thanks and i will write some things down .to ask doc as when im in there im all of a twiz ..
