My son had croup just before he was one. I had taken him to the docs in the morning and because he didnt seem too bad she just sent us home to see how things went. That afternoon, however, he had just gone for a nap when suddenly he woke up struggling to breathe. What frightened me was the fact that his chest& tummy were sinking in and out as he struggled to breathe. I rang the doc straight away and on examination she sent us to the hospital. He was given steriods and had to stay in a few days. His twin brother then also then got it but not as bad with no admission to hospital. If you are worried I would contact the doctor. With my son the alarming thing was his chest etc. sinking in and I think this is why he had to go to hospital. HTH xxx
