Peppermint Tea and IBS

Does Peppermint tea actually alleviate the cramps associated with IBS?

Have been using Colofac as have terrible stomach cramps and can't get to see my Doctor for a few days but wondered if anyone actually had any good things to say about the peppermint tea route?

Peppermint tea works for me when I have a bout of IBS. Also natural live yogurt is excellent too. Worth a try!

Ty fresh mint rather than peppermint in a bag if possible - I forget the detail but peppermint vs spearmint (or something) is less good. Fresh mint as you grow in the garden is probably better.

Ginger tea (fresh chunks of peeled ginger) with a teaspoon of honey can help digestive issues too I find.

You can try peppermint oil too diluted in some water, that usually helps me if I need something stronger than the tea.

Yes peppermint tea definately worked for me. I had a dreadful bout of ibs when I was at university, I spent days literally bent double with agony and peppermint tea really helped. Fwiw, I drink at least a cup of it a day and I have never had a repeat of ibs

hi there i too have been suffering with ibs recently
am on colofac and have been drinking 4 cups of peppermint tea a day and im finding it really helps, alittle sugar and no milk.

I would recommend replacing the sugar with honey. Sugar can irritate digestive problems while Honey apparently has some bacteria fighting/general soothing properties.
