I woke up 2 weeks ago feeling achey and with sore throat and earache. I felt really rough all day but since then the sore throat and earache have been coming and going. Some days I wake up fine but mid-afternoon it comes on and then I also get hot and cold and have to go and sleep for an hour or so. After that the fever is gone and I'm fine again for a bit. Today I woke up and my throat hurt and also my uvula (the dangly bit) was massively swollen and it felt like it was choking me. I just feel drained and fed up that this throat thing. I can't get off the setee and get dressed today and the dd's are having to watch a lot of TV

Have you been tested for Glandulr Fever?

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 24/04/2009 13:25

No I haven't been tested for glandular fever. I find it hard to tell what is normal pregnancy symptoms and what's not. All I know is that I'm now well into the 2nd trimester and still feel as crap as ever! I think if the test says it isn't slapped cheek I'll need to go back and ask for some other tests I guess.

Continous sore throat and fever is not normal pregnancy symptoms. I'm suprised the doctor has not suggested testing you for Glandular Fever if your sore throat is pesistant.

Hello hangingbelly

Good luck with the blood test result. Sorry to hear you ghave had such a rough time of it. My sore throat came back again towards the end of last week and hung about for another week but it wasn't on the same scale as before. Sort of like an echo.

Bloody glad its gone now. Hope you get better soon x

whenwillisleepagain · 24/04/2009 18:41

Yes, hope you get better soon. I'm on week 3 of the sore throat and other things that the rest of you described. It comes and goes, just when I think I'm almost better, back it comes! And definitely agree about the tree pollen, it won't be helping at all. Get well soon everybody.

If you are preggers best not to use anything that has not been ok'd by your Doc, for those not preggers echinacea really worked a treat.

mamas12 · 24/04/2009 19:24

I'm another one! Unfortunately have always 'suffered' with a sore throat, even had my tonsils out at eight yrs old. But have had infection of the tonsil beds!
I hope this talk of glandular won't include me. I have been self treating so far but it looks like from what everyone is saying that I need to see the docs and get myself tested.
Oh boo I'm on a period of everything happening at once to me and I really didn't want illness though.
Good thread though

I have had a sore throat and laryngitis since April 12th - I went to GP on abt 17th to be told its a virus and could last two to three weeks.

Well we're nearly three weeks now and I am sooo fed up with it.

My throat feels as though there is cut glass in it and feel generally tired and not 100%

Also have taken painkillers on and off for three weeks now.

Have also had a nasty bout of thrush in between.

At one point white spots on tonsils but they have now gone away.

Am thinking of going back to docs beginning of next week.

Help!!!

lostinthecitylover · 29/04/2009 15:40

OMG just rung drs no appts til next Thursday - but receptionist said she had exactly the same thing and it lasted 5 weeks - don't think I can put up with it much longer.

lostinthecitylover · 29/04/2009 15:47

sorry and am such a chicken - everyone keeps telling me to garlgle with paracetomol or soluble aspirin but I can't (very bad childhood memories of these two drugs) so surely calpol would do the same - ie hit the spot rather than taking ibuprofen.

About a month ago I had a major cold, felt really rough, got rid of the cold but have never felt completely back to normal, started feeling quite rough again yesterday, high temp during the night and woke up with mega sore throat and swollen glands. Not helped by all the news stories of swine flu.

yes my ex h is currently in Mexico!! The DCs are due to see him on Sun. I am quite worried abt that too.
