Just out the bath, I have a spot/lump like thing there shall I leave it and see if it goes? Or?

this is very likely to be a bartholin's cyst. if it is on one side of your labia minora. please google. please please learn from years and years of my experience and 8 operations (when they get infected they need to be drained and it is blah and real pain).

get in warm/hot bath. press down on the lump. fluid should come out (it is the same lubricant that gets you wet when you are turned on sorry for tmi). the little pea should go down if you do this. you will avoid infection (and an operation) this way.

do not ignore if it starts to hurt/get bigger. if it is infected it absolutely need operating on. however, i'm sure that my bath method would avoid this 9/10. i spent years in misery because of a propensity to these (they are blocked ducts and there are loads of them so operating on one doesn't necessarily mean that it won't happen again, and again).

It looks like a spot, is external like. I did try to squeeze it and a tiny bit of blood came from it?

OP posts:
Claire2009 · 10/04/2009 23:10

Googled & I dont think it is a bartholin's cyst, I had a cyst like that before when I lived in France though and got rid of it, can't remember how but gp prescribed something!

This is external, more like a spot but I'm not sure if it is a spot...

Could be inflamation from a blocked hair folicle? Is it painful?

Claire2009 · 10/04/2009 23:14

Not painful no, well it wasn't until I squeezed it .

I only noticed in when in the bath...just thinking I'll leave it & see if it goes on its own?

OP posts:
YanknbeforetheCockcrows · 10/04/2009 23:14

Could it be an ingrown pubic hair? Those can get very painful.

YanknbeforetheCockcrows · 10/04/2009 23:16

gah, crossposted

When I got an ingrown hair, it also didn't hurt until I messed with it! You could try hot compresses. Or just leave it for a while and watch carefully.

Claire2009 · 10/04/2009 23:17

Off to google again

OP posts:
FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 10/04/2009 23:17

You could leave it and see what happens. A warm bath will bring anything nasty out so should help. Your fanjo's like any other part of your body, it gets spots aswell. The boil sounds really nasty though, there's alot of bacteria down there so do pop to the fanjo experts if you are worried (the GP).

Claire2009 · 10/04/2009 23:20

Yank, Googled & found pics, def looks like that!

So, Hot compresses? Anything else?

Sister had to go to gp recently to have one removed from her fanjo area

Thanks all

YanknbeforetheCockcrows · 10/04/2009 23:27

Nothing else really, even if you leave it, it will probably work itself out. Hot compresses might help to speed it up, but can't guarantee anything!

I'm a terrible one for not squeezing things too

Claire2009 · 10/04/2009 23:29

Will squeezing it help?

Like a spot, squeeze and its gone?

OP posts:
FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 10/04/2009 23:31

Nope. It needs to work it's way closer to the surface. Squeezing it will make you feel better, then annoy you. Resist the urge if you can.

Claire2009 · 10/04/2009 23:33

Ok Thanks
I will resist the urge to squeeze

Really old fashioned remedy but a hot bread poultice is good for drawing out foreign objects eg skelfs from fingers, boils that sort of thing.

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 10/04/2009 23:35

Just leave it, it will get bigger, then go sore maybe, if it's a hair you'll see it under the skin. If it's an infected folicle then it'll end up just like a big spot. Nice!

Claire2009 · 10/04/2009 23:36

Eww...

Right now it looks like one of these white-ish spots ....(WARNING TMI )

I'll see the hair under the skin? ..Wow...

OP posts:
FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 10/04/2009 23:38

It should be safe to scratch the top off if it's like this, make sure your bits and your hands are clean though. Clean your hands and give it a squeeze.

Claire2009 · 10/04/2009 23:42

Hmm...I may do...half tempted to leave it be, not noticed it till I was in the bath!......If it annoys me I will scratch (even tho I have no nails as they are severely bitten [blush)

Thanks again.
