6 day old - cord stump issues?

My Dd was born on saturday, since then her cord stump has been clean and dry. I have not bathed her yet, only top and tailed her. Today I notice her cord stump has had a little bit of bleeding and there's a smell to it, like an iron rich blood smell.
Is it worth calling the midwife in to check it tomorrow?
There is no pus or sign of infection.
TIA

Sounds normal to me.

The skin will rot before it falls off so it can become a bit pungent. So long as there is no inflammation, fever or pus it shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Yes sounds totally normal. Bathe it with cooled boiled water to remove any blood around the stump

Thanks. Been nearly 5 years since I had a newborn!! Will bathe it when I top and tail later.
